Darjeeling


Darjeeling is a district in the Indian state of West Bengal located amidst the lower Himalayas known for its tea industry. It was named as Mahabharat Range when the town was developed in the mid 19th century by the British then the town came to be known for its vast tea estates that produce the best Tea in the country. The town is enriched with natural resources and rich cultural heritage. It is a renowned tourist spot due to its pleasant climate all the year round.

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway or ‘Toy Train’ is the most famous attraction was built in the years between 1879 and 1881 which is a narrow gauge rail that is 2ft in width that runs between Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri. Batasia Loop is a place for tourists attraction when the ’ToyTrain’ makes its way across a looped track that transverses through some beautiful parks.

Singalila National Park located at an altitude of approximately 2134 meters above sea level which is the highest regions of West Bengal and Neora Valley is one of the richest biological zones in the north-east spread across around 88sq km. The park is known for its amazing peaks and the panoramic views of the lesser Himalayas is also famous as a trekker’s paradise with various fauna, vegetation and birds.

Tiger Hill and Observatory Hill are two of the famous peaks in Darjeeling that can be reached by jeep or foot that transverses through some of the oldest tea plantations, this place is known for trekking and offer some of the most marvelous views Kanchenjunga and the monolithic Mt. Everest.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is located at an average area of 2134 meters above sea level is the largest high altitude zoos in India famous for its Red Panda, Pangolin, Takin and Snow Leapord.

Japanese Peace Pagoda is the Buddhist shrine is built in an amazing white structure with golden colored sculptures is a part of 30 such structures across the world. With that the famous Happy Valley Tea Estate is a house of highest tea factory in the world.
