Kanchenjunga was assumed to be the highest mountain in the world but with the measurements of Great Trigonometrically Survey of India in the year of 1849 came into the conclusion that Mount Everest was the highest and allowing further other calculations and verifications it is then officially announced in the year of 1856 that Kanchenjunga is the third highest of all mountains.

It is situated in the eastern part of Himalayas on the border between Sikkim, north eastern India and eastern Nepal which 74 km or 46 miles north to north west of Darjeeling, Sikkim. The mountain is composed of rocks which is in a form of gigantic cross and whose arms extends till all four directions in the north, south, east and west.

The name itself suggests “the Five Treasures of Snow” referring to its five summits all over 8000 meters which is located at Latitude 27 degrees 42 feet 9 inches and till Longitude 88 degrees 9.1 feet with an enormous mass and numerous satellite peaks along its ridges. It is said always that this mountain has remained unconquered in spite of several attempts furnished with the most modern and trending equipments till the year of 1975 and within 7000-sq-kms area it is contained the world’s third highest 8586m but it is the most romantic mountain according to the view and tourists feedback.
